Derek is an active resident and long time member of the Isle of Wight community. While our law firm operates an office in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Derek primarily works remotely from Carrollton. This makes him well suited to provide transactional and litigation support to local entrepreneurs. 

Derek started his career as a prosecutor for the City of Portsmouth and City of Suffolk. Next, Derek entered the business and commercial world as in-house counsel where he worked closely with business leads to provide business legal solutions.  With a passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed, Derek and John Allen launched the law firm of Waldrop & Colvin.   Today, they serve clients at every stage of the journey from pre-revenue to over 10B in annual sales.
